Sales platform Trumpet scores funding to tune of £1.6m

Trumpet, a B2B sales platform used by companies such as Google, has raised £1.6m in a pre-seed funding round led by Lightbird Ventures.

The London-based startup said it will use the capital to increase its headcount and prepare for international growth.

Rory Sadler, co-founder of Trumpet, told UKTN: “As a SaaS [software as a service] tool that’s taking a product-led growth approach to scaling, we are able to support most customers remotely from the EU. But our main international expansion plan will be to enter the US due to the market size and opportunity that comes with it.”

Its platform lets those who work in sales to create microsites through the use of application programming interfaces (APIs) and does not require any knowledge of coding.

Trumpet is the latest venture for Nick Telson and Andrew Webster, who previously founded nightlife comparison site DesignMyNight. The pair exited the business in 2019 and launched Trumpet with former Hotjar sales lead Rory Sadler.

“Having personally experienced the pains of designing and personalising countless sales assets and navigating complex buyer journeys throughout my career, I’m confident trumpet is the answer to these industry-wide problems,” said Sadler.

Trumpet will use the funding for hiring across its engineering, marketing and commercial teams.

“This seamless experience speeds up, and optimises buyer journeys whilst reducing the growing amount of admin salespeople are faced with,” added Sadler.

Founded in 2021, Trumpet is also used by Otta, Datadog, Deel and GoCardless.

The pre-seed also attracted investment from Triple Point Ventures, Haatch, Anamcara Capital as well as angel investors from companies such as Cognism.

Thomas Meier, managing partner, Lightbird Ventures, said: “We see a huge market shift happening in which companies use technology to enable the buyers’ decision-making process and leverage data & engagement metrics to increase conversion rates during the sales process.”

Competitors include B2B sales platform Workbounce, which earlier this year received £2m in its seed round, and sales automation startup Avnio, which emerged from stealth in March.
