PolyModels Hub, a London-based startup developing digital tools for the research and development of pharmaceuticals, has raised £1.1m.

The startup’s platform, ModelFlow, integrates models, scientific data and insights into a single space.

Pharma staff can manage their workflows and collaborate on projects through the platform.

PolyModels Hub’s co-founder and CEO Antonio Benedetti said pharmaceutical development is particularly bogged down by the “numerous experiments with minimal knowledge transfer from past products.

“We have witnessed first-hand the inefficiencies of traditional drug development, as well as the growing desire and business need to transform this field.

“With today’s advanced technology, supportive business context, and favourable regulatory framework, we believe now is the perfect time to realise this vision,” he added.

His startup aims to reduce decision-making time, save costs and enhance knowledge-building for future products.

Marathon Venture Capital led the seed investment round.

“The pharma industry is being revolutionised by modern technologies including AI, biotechnology, and robotics,” said Alex Alexakis, an investor at Marathon Venture Capital.

“Yet, pharma process development, which is a critical part of taking a drug product to market, is still driven by the empirical knowledge of scientists and relies on paper-based systems and manual processes.

“PolyModels Hub brings a rare mix of chemical and software engineering expertise to digitalise pharma process development and help pharma deliver breakthrough therapies faster to the growing and ageing population,” he added.
