Cumulative funding across the UK’s 1,986 tracked semiconductor companies stands at $4.3bn (£3.2bn), with the £237.4m raised so far in 2026 coming from 14 rounds, versus 18 across the full prior year.
Seed funding reached $37.2m (£27.5m), while early stage funding rose to $284m (£210m). Late stage funding, which stood at $77m (£52m) in 2025, has yet to register a round in 2026 year-to-date (YTD).
Fractile raised $242.5m (£180m) at Series A in January 2026 and a $220m (£162.7m) Series B in May, making it the UK’s top-funded semiconductor business model.
Bristol retained its position as the UK’s top-funded semiconductor hub despite having just 43 of the 1,986 companies tracked. The city accounts for 25.6% of UK semiconductor funding, with $1.1bn (£813.7m) raised – exceeding the combined funding of Cambridge (12.2%, £390m) and London (11.0%, £350.6m).
The UK semiconductor sector recorded six acquisitions in 2026 YTD, down from 10 in 2025 and 18 in 2023 – the lowest annual count in the five-year period covered.
IPO activity remained limited, with no UK semiconductor companies going public in 2026 YTD, compared with one IPO each in 2024 and 2025. TeraView’s December 2025 listing, at a $193m (£142.8m) market cap, remains the sector’s most recent public debut.
