Data application builder Quix bags £11m Series A

Data application building platform Quix has received £11m in a Series A funding round led by MMC Ventures.

Its cloud platform is used by developers to build event-driven or real-time applications and does not require them to supply their own data infrastructure.

Quix has a modular architecture that allows users to choose their own choice of cloud vendor, infrastructure, and other technology when coding their apps.

Mike Rosam, co-Founder at Quix, said: “Many companies are struggling to combine raw technologies like Kafka into real-time data capabilities. Whilst this is possible for the world’s leading tech companies, most struggle to find the talent and time to deliver real-time applications.”

Funding from the Series A round will be used by Quix for product development and open-source initiatives.

Co-founders Mike Rosam, Péter Nagy, Patrick Mira Pedrol and Tomáš Neubauer previously worked together at car manufacturer McLaren.

“We have been doing an increased amount of research in the data infrastructure space, it is clear that there is a growing demand for real-time streaming data, both across consumer and B2B use cases,” said Oliver Richards, partner at MMC Ventures.

The London-based startup also secured funding from Project A Ventures and Passion Capital.

Quix previous funding round came last May, when the company secured a £2.3m seed round.
