Online craft beer marketplace HonestBrew gets £1.5m

Online craft beer supplier HonestBrew has raised £1.5m from investors including Hargreave Hale VCTS.
The company, which has now raised £2.4m in total, also received additional support from a series of undisclosed high-net-worth individuals.
As a result of the deal, Stephen Moon, CEO at Science in Sport PLC, will join the business as non-executive director.
Launched in 2014 by Andrew Reeve, Annabel Causer, Tim Armstrong and Craig Wilmott, HonestBrew previously raised £250,000 in Angel funding and £400,000 on Crowdcube.
“We are passionate about supporting independent craft breweries and helping people to access and enjoy the world’s best beer.
“Our focus on quality product and service has led us to become the leading player in the online craft beer market in the UK, and we see big opportunity for future growth.
“We want to keep to keep pushing the growth of craft beer in the UK, helping independents to gain a greater market share and people to enjoy craft beer no matter where they are.
“As part of this mission, we’ll be scaling our online platform, launching our first physical space and expanding our trade offering,” Reeve said.
The news comes after Hargreave Hale led Zappar’s $3.75m Series A in February.
