Four years later: Lessons from founding a business

Ritam Gandhi, founder and director of Studio Graphene – an agency that plans, designs and builds digital solutions and IoT products – looks back at what he’s learnt over the past four years.  

Precisely four years ago, in August 2014, after a decade of working as a consultant for the likes of Accenture and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, I took the plunge and started my own business: Studio Graphene – a company offering third-party design, app development and IoT solutions for private companies and aspiring entrepreneurs. It was a move I had wanted to make for a long time, and it’s a decision I am endlessly pleased with.

It’s also a decision that an increasing number of people across the UK are making. In fact, more than 589,000 new companies were established in the UK last year, up from the 484,000 businesses formed in 2012. In total, over the past five years, the country has witnessed the creation of almost 3.5 million startups....
