Women’s safety has been a long-standing issue that the government has been forced to address, with police chiefs calling the rise in cases against women a “national emergency.”
Last month, official police figures revealed that the number of recorded offences, including stalking, harassment, sexual assault, and domestic violence, had grown by 37% in the past five years.
Statistics also show that half of all women and one in seven men do not feel safe walking alone at night.
