Which role was the most important early hire you made?

These days, you need to prove your novel business model before building your tech – especially in an established industry.

We could not have run a high frequency operational business without support from a junior hire in handling day to day ‘firefighting’. We picked an administrative powerhouse, from a tech background, and invested a lot of time educating her about care. She came with no preconceived ideas – a huge advantage. Trust is vital and it helped that I had known her for decades. Our first hire allowed us to grow and generate revenue, and to build custom technology to unlock obstacles....
