ClearBank appoints board members for international launch

Fintech ClearBank is appointing four new board members with experience at the likes of Zopa Bank and Virgin Money in preparation for launching outside of the UK.
After holding the position of chair at both the Bank of Ireland and Zopa Bank, Peter Herbert will now hold the same role at ClearBank.
Tim Wade becomes group chair of the audit committee and senior independent director. He will continue as audit committee chair at Royal Bank of Canada Europe and Virgin Money.
Former Pay.UK chair of risk committee and Banking Competition Remedies non-executive chair, Richard Anderson, takes the post of group chair of risk committee at ClearBank.
Susanne Hannestad also joins as a non-executive director, adding to her board positions at Triodos Bank, Zimpler, Monty Mobile and Crunchfish.
Hannestad said: “ClearBank is on the cusp of a period of significant transformation, entering new markets, expanding its proposition, and reaching new customers.”
The embedded banking company in September reported it had achieved a pre-tax profit of £5.9m for the first six months of 2023.
Anderson said: “The last year has not been an easy one for fintech or financial services in general, but ClearBank has bucked these trends and continues on a path of accelerated growth and profitability.”
