In the latest episode of the UKTN Podcast, Bianca Cefalo, co-founder of Space DOTS, discusses how the space tech industry in the UK and beyond is rapidly growing and ready for full commercialisation.
During the show, the Space DOTS CEO and UKTN Podcast host Jane Wakefield discuss what it’s like to be a woman in an industry dominated by men, with Cefalo encouraging women to ignore the doubters and follow their engineering dreams.
Cefalo previously worked on a project for Nasa and later for Airbus Defence in the UK. In 2021 Cefalo co-founded Space DOTS, a British startup that has created modular devices to test materials in orbit, with James Sheppard Alden. It has since raised over £1m in investments and grants.
Its first product, the Barnacle DOT, is similar in shape and size to a Covid test and can hitch a ride in other rockets to conduct testing beyond microgravity.
This season of the UKTN Podcast is sponsored by HSBC Innovation Banking, which offers flexible banking solutions for startups, scaleups, growth businesses, investors and those working towards IPO.
