TLA launches four new working groups

Tech London Advocates has launched four new working groups designed to champion tech startups in London’s retail tech, creative tech, cyber tech and games sectors.

The four new working groups, led by industry leaders, will convene relevant digital entrepreneurs and experts to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the emerging sectors.

Retail tech, creative tech, cyber tech and games tech have all been identified by Tech London Advocates membership of 1,800 tech experts, investors and professionals as key verticals in which London has a genuine competitive advantage.

Russ Shaw, founder of Tech London Advocates, said: “After the breakthrough success of fintech, London’s technology community is starting to produce startups with the ability to grow rapidly in size and scale across a range of sectors.

“As tech becomes increasingly mainstream and continues to disrupt every industry in the capital, we should expect to see the next significant exit coming from the likes of retail, creative, cyber and gaming.

“Tech London Advocates’s new working groups demonstrate the private sector’s appetite to support these emerging specialisms and work together to overcome the challenges still facing fast growth businesses in the capital.”

Operating either to raise awareness about obstacles facing London’s technology industry or to champion verticals in which the capital has a genuine competitive advantage, Tech London Advocates now has 16 working groups.

Many emerging specialisms are now represented, including ed tech, clean tech and fashion tech.

In addition, TLA ‘Scaleup’ is a working group that works across the entire spectrum of emerging verticals to ensure that the support and focus is in place to help these companies achieve high growth and move more effectively from startup to scaleup, in line with the recommendations from Sherry Coutu’s Scale-up Report.
