The Vagenda: Help fund the Women’s blog that challenges sexism in the media

Want a break from the gossip mags’ incessant insecurity mongering? Support The Vagenda Relaunch

Bloggers Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett and Holly Baxter are raising money through Kickstarter to relaunch their blog The Vagenda, the women’s blog that takes a swipe at the ‘body fascism’ of women’s fashion and lifestyle magazines through intelligent and funny criticism.

The money will go towards a redesign and will allow Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett and Holly Baxter to commission more articles and hire some interns to keep the well-written and witty blog afloat.

Body Fascism

The Vagenda has attracted 11 million views since its launch, according to the campaign page, but the writers are reluctant to capitalise on this through advertising because of the way web advertising works– keywords would likely lead to their blog being covered in weight-loss and beauty product ads, seriously compromising their message.

What’s is wrong with women’s magazines

Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett and Holly Baxter also run school assemblies, university talks, and workshops about ‘What is wrong with women’s magazines’, and the funding will help them continue educating young people about the contemptible garbage being fed to them through the mainstream media.

Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett and Holly Baxter’s long term goal is to to rent an office and employ staff for The Vagenda, and their modest target of raising £2,000 has very almost been met at the time of writing with 29 days of funding still to go, so give these women your money and help them spread the word about ‘woman-on-woman crime’ perpetrated by women’s magazines and help them smash through their target and raise as much as possible before the 12 June deadline.
