Digital Catapult
Jeremy Silver, an investor and business mentor, will take on the new role of CEO at Digital Catapult from next month.
Silver will join Digital Catapult following stints at as a CEO at Sibelius Software and executive chair of Semetric Ltd, as well as having held senior positions at Virgin Records and EMI.
Commenting on his new role, Silver said: “I’m delighted to be taking on the leadership of the Digital Catapult. The UK continues to be transformed in radical ways by the stream of digital innovation coming from academia, startups and larger companies. “
Silver will be taking over from outgoing CEO Neil Crockett, who announced his decision to step down in January this year.
Automotive startups competition
Cambridge Wireless has announced the launch of a new Discovering Automotive Startups competition.
Launched in partnership with Magna International Inc, the competition will set out to select ten innovative startups or research institutions to present their disruptive technologies and business plans to senior business executives from Magna at the Wireless International Conference, taking place on 21st June.
“We want to identify a new, potentially untapped generation of innovators to help support Magna’s ongoing product development work in the connected vehicle market,” said Ian Simmons, vice president of R&D at Magna.
The winner will be presented with a £5,000 prize. Applications are now open and will close on 10th June.
MassChallenge accelerator
MassChallenge has partnered with The Boston Consulting Group to bring innovative tech solutions to market by connecting BCG’s clients with startups in the UK, the US and Israel.
Mike LaRhette, president of MassChallenge, said in a statement: “BCG is one of the most innovative consulting groups globally and employs some of the top minds in science, technology, and innovation.
“We look forward to helping augment their talent with our experience in the startup world and to connect them with leading startups from Israel, the UK, the United States, and our global network,” he concluded.
The application process for MassChallenge UK and Mexico opens on 19th May.
