Aviation startup Lilium has appointed its first head of communications, Oliver Walker-Jones.
Lilium is developing an on-demand air mobility service for everyone, designing, manufacturing and soon will be operating the Lilium Jet. This is designed to be the first all-electric vertical take-off and landing jet (eVTOL) of its kind.
Walker-Jones was formerly head of communications at Rolls-Royce, after spending several years with LafargeHolcim as both head of external affairs and chief of staff. Earlier in his career, Oliver also held positions at Walmart, Blackstone, and the CBI.
Co-founded in 2015 by Daniel Wiegand, Sebastian Born, Patrick Nathen and Matthias Meiner, Lilium is based near Munich, Germany’s high-tech hub for mobility.
The founding team share a common vision of creating a revolutionary air mobility solution that uses the world’s smartest technology to change the way we travel and commute.
Walker-Jones will be responsible for the communication of all elements of the business and will focus on Lilium’s growth on a global scale.
On his appointment, he said: “While the concept of an air taxi may have been around for decades, Lilium is tantalisingly close to turning what was once science-fiction into a reality.
“I’m genuinely thrilled to be joining a company of world-class engineers, remarkable designers, and top managers, and I look forward to playing my part in telling the Lilium story.”
