Kohli Ventures launches $25m investment fund to boost UK tech

Startup

Serial entrepreneur Tej Kohli has announced the launch of the Kohli Impact Investment Initiative, a $25m investment fund to boost UK tech.

The fund, which will be deployed through Kohli’s London-based family office, Kohli Ventures, will invest in innovative and disruptive technologies in the UK and across the globe which have the potential to benefit the world socially and environmentally.

Aside from investment, the Initiative will also offer experience, expertise, a management infrastructure and access to R&D facilities in order to help startups to develop and scale their business.

Focusing on artificial intelligence, robotics, FinTech, genomics, AgTech, CleanTech, PropTech and HealthTech, the fund welcomes applications from startups with the intention of generating social and environmental impact alongside a financial return. This is so that the money can be reinvested into further tech firms and create a globally beneficial investment cycle.

Jim Rai, principle advisor for the Kohli Impact Investment Initiative, commented: “We believe in the importance of making investments that have a significant social and environment impact, and are delighted to be launching this new initiative  in order to focus our efforts in this space.

The Initiative follows Kohli Ventures’ investment in Zynergy Solar, an Indian company focused on rural off-grid solar products.

“We have been encouraged by the continued success of Zynergy and look forward to seeking out and working with innovative and game changing businesses, using our experience and expertise to help them develop and scale their businesses,” he concluded.
