The makers of the Candy Crush saga have completed their glory year of 2013 by topping the app download charts, released by App Annie.
King’s app ranked no.1 by downloads and no.2 by revenue in the Game category, and the company itself was in the top five gaming firms in both the downloads and revenue charts.
Old faces
Facebook dominated the App category, with three of the publisher’s creations present in the top five.
The familiar faces of WhatsApp, Microsoft, Twitter and Google also featured in the top ten.

Blending in
Though registered in the App store as a United Kingdom company, King is actually headquartered in Sweden.
But the Swedes are renowned for making little noise about their startup successes, meaning the firm is still generally perceived to be British.
However, talks of a British IPO for King have been circulating for months, with rumours that it has hired JP Morgan Chase & Co, Credit Suisse and Bank of America for the job.
