Edtech hardware startup Kano, company research tool Duedil and keyboard software provider Swiftkey, along with 55 other fast-growth UK-based companies, have been welcomed into Silicon Valley Comes to the UK‘s Scale Up Club for 2015.
The companies have a combined revenue of £300m this year, while employing some 3,100 people across the UK, with Kano experiencing 1000% growth year-on-year.
Edtech firms took four spots on the list, with Kano joined by the Raspberry Pi Foundation, Freeformers and Technology Will Save Us.
A diverse range of subscription services have also entered the club, including BorrowMyDoggy, Graze and Grub Club.
SVC2UK picks the companies based on their growth figures over the past three years, taken from turnover and employee numbers, and offers their CEOs mentoring from top tech leaders.
Previous Scale Up Club alumni, such as TransferWise and Edinburgh’s SkyScanner, are now valued at more than $1bn.
SVC2UK was launched in 2006 by Sherry Coutu CBE, Reid Hoffman and Ellen Levy. Coutu, a serial entrepreneur, board of a number of companies, such as the Raspberry Pi Foundation, and angel investor, including putting early cash into Duedil, said: “The work we are doing at the Scale up Institute provides evidence that scale up leaders need access to corporate customers and effective professional support schemes to help them expand faster.
“The SVC2UK CEO Summit provides both of these areas of support in an impactful way with successful entrepreneurs sharing their own lessons and insights in practical workshops. I wish all those included in this year’s Scale Up Club the very best in what will be a challenging yet exhilarating year ahead.”
