The UK ranks third globally for the number of space tech investment deals, behind only the US and China over the previous 12 months.
In the year-ago period, there were 39 space investment deals in the UK according to a report by Seraphim Space, an investor that backs early-stage space tech startups.
The US topped the ranking with 165 space deals, while China came in second with 64 deals.
For investment size the UK also placed third highest, receiving $311m (£237.6m). The US reported deals worth a combined $2.2bn (£1.68bn) and China $388m (£296.5m).
“The space investment sector is starting to show encouraging signs of recovery from the lows of 2022,” said Maureen Haverty, vice president of Seraphim Space.
“Each of the last three quarters has set records for the highest number of space tech deals, with investment occurring from seed to Series C. In particular, the first half of this year has seen a return to growth investment in Europe, which had its largest-ever quarter in Q1 2023.”...
