A Treasury-backed review of the UK’s university spinout ecosystem has been delayed from its end-of-summer publication date.
UKTN understands that the Treasury is now working towards publication before the Autumn Statement on 22 November.
Led by figures from academia and venture capital, the independent review will identify the best practices for commercialising university research.
It has been consulting universities, investors and founders to produce recommendations for boosting the UK’s spinout ecosystem.
The review is also comparing approaches and timelines for spinout commercialisation outside of the UK, including in the US.
It is being led by Professor Irene Tracey, vice-chancellor of the University of Oxford, and Dr Andrew Williamson, managing partner of Cambridge Innovation Capital.
