55 London Firms set to open their doors for OpenCo ‘Festival of Innovation’
Over 50 London firms including Google Campus and Spotify are set to host the innovation festival OpenCo on 7 June following its success in San Francisco and New York.
The festival offers an insight into the inner workings of some of the world’s most successful tech companies who will host sessions to share their wisdom with entrepreneurs.
“There’s no better way to learn about innovation than up close and personal in its native habitat – and that’s what OpenCo London is all about,” said OpenCo Founder John Battelle.
Dynamic work environments
“We want to give people the opportunity to hear from some of the most talented business minds out there and see some of the city’s most dynamic work environments,” he added.
Run in partnership with Le Web 2013, backed by the Mayor of London and the Tech City Investment Organisation (TCIO) and sponsored by General Assembly and Level39, OpenCo London will kick off with a launch event on 6th June. Tech City News will be covering the biggest news from LeWeb London throughout the week.
“Throwing open the doors of these enterprises is a great way for enterprises big and small to foster collaboration and build links with their communities. OpenCo is a great concept and I hope it will be a huge success,” Mayor of London Boris Johnson said.
OpenCo launched last year in San Francisco with a second event taking place in May in New York which attracted 110 of the city’s technology companies and 2000 attendees. This year, additional events will take place in Detroit and San Francisco.
Open source building
Eze Vidra, Head of Campus, said: “We see Google’s Campus as an ‘open source building’, bringing together talented entrepreneurs under one roof to strengthen the London start-up community and create serendipity. OpenCo London embodies these values, and we’re looking forward to being part of it.”
