Ever planned a summertime pint after work only to find your favourite beer garden is stuck in the shade?
Beer In The Sun promises an app and website that’ll tell you which nearby pubs are basked in sunshine and for how long.
Starting with London, they plan to painstakingly map the sun in the sky from beer gardens in the capital in order to provide accurate data for their app.
As ambitious as it sounds, they claim to have already mapped pubs in Soho and Clerkenwell, and have plans to extend it to the rest of London and beyond.
Watch their Kickstarter campaign video:
Alphabet Media plan to have Beer In The Sun up and running by May 2013 in time for the summer, and if it works as promised it will be a godsend for Londoners, who flock to beer gardens in their droves at the first glimmer of sun.
The app will run on iOS and Android and they’ve promised to share their data through an API to third party developers, meaning we might see even more interesting uses in the near future.
They’re £12,000 short of their target but with 21 days to go, they have a decent chance of hitting it.
After all, everyone hates a crowded, shady beer garden.
