Enter the Elevator Pitch today – deadline 8 May!

Tech City News is yet again on the hunt for the next big thing, this time heading ‘up north’ for a second startup pitch day to ensure the shortlist contains the brightest and best from across the UK.

UK-based early and late-stage tech startups can enter now to compete for a place in the semi-finals of the startup competition, which are happening at the BBC’s The Landing at Media City, Manchester, on Tuesday 12 May, and Google Campus, London, on Friday 15 May.

The shortlisted startups will pitch to our panel of judges, including leading tech experts from Tech City News, Tech City UK, Level 39, Natwest, Gust, KPMG and Knight Frank.

The 20 best semi-finalists will then have their pitches filmed in London, which will then be featured on the Tech City News website, ahead of the grand final at an awards ceremony in December. Prizes from our sponsors are also up for grabs.

Since filming the first series of the Elevator Pitch in January 2013, the shortlisted 50 companies have raised more than $60m in funding, with companies like YPlan going on to open up offices in the US.

Winner of Peoples’ Choice Startup of the Year 2014 Erica Brodnock from Karizma Kidz said on winning the Elevator Pitch awards: “This really gives us a platform to stand up on and to say this is what we do, this is who we are and be amongst some of the top entrepreneurs in the London tech scene. Not to mention the opportunity to network with investors.”

Ryan Fowler, editor of Tech City News, added: “Digital job growth is predicted to outperform all other occupations by 2020 with 7.5% of the UK workforce already employed in digital industries. Startups that enter the Elevator Pitch are more than likely driving this job growth so it’s important that we highlight the success stories from across the UK.”
