Elevator Pitch Awards 2015

Last night we celebrated the success of the latest Elevator Pitch series, representing the best of UK startups this year, with our Elevator Pitch Awards 2015.

It is hard to believe this is the 5th series of the Elevator Pitch. Since we began, we’ve taken startups on a speed boat ride, thirty-three floors up a skyscraper, put them in the back of a black cab and on a ‘special’ rickshaw ride to test their pitching skills – just in case running a business wasn’t challenging enough.

We’ve seen 65 companies join our Elevator Pitch alumni club including the likes of Hassle.com, Yplan, Import.io, Glow, Buzz Radar and many more. So far the total investment raised by our alumni has been over $80m.

But last night belonged to the ‘class of 2015’. We gave out seven awards in total on the evening, covering everything from ‘most disruptive startup’ to ‘best campaign’, and a great time was had by all.

“I’ve seen you all grow this year from your initial pitch at Google Campus to the gruelling second round judging and culminating in your news stories featured on Tech City News,” said Sinead O’Brien, head of production at Tech City News.

“It really has been an excellent year and we’ve loved following your progress. Don’t forget that you are now a part of the Elevator Pitch alumni which is a great network of startups who can help you on your journey to further successes.”

We would like to say a huge thank you to Natwest for hosting the dinner last night, and the other sponsors who’ve been there throughout the series: KPMG, LendInvest, Taylor Wessing, Propel and Knight Frank.

And a big thank you to all the startups who pitched in 2015. Here are our winners:

Award for Social Good 2015: Hometouch

Most Disruptive Startup 2015: RotaGeek

Pitch of the Year 2015: Makerble

Congratulations to all of the winners and if you’re reading this thinking ‘I could do that’, our next Elevator Pitch competition will be starting in the New Year. More information will be posted on Tech City News in due course.
