Details of the newly-created Digital Industries Minister have been announced, including responsibilities for the digital economy, entrepreneurship and skills.
BIS Responsibilities

- EU single digital market
- senior relationship management of Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Huawei and other digital industry companies
- Co-chair of the smart cities forum
The responsibilities, announced on the gov.uk website, fall within the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS).
This means some areas related to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) are yet to be announced.
Ed Vaizey
The new role has the full title of Minister of State for Culture and Digital Industries, and has been filled by Ed Vaizey MP.
The former Culture Minister took up the post as part of David Cameron’s extensive reshuffle in July.
