Deloitte’s annual ranking of the top 50 fast growing tech companies was revealed this week.
This year’s group of companies were responsible for 5,000 jobs and generated an incredible £672m of combined revenue across 2012/13.
Positive sentiment for future growth
Deloitte survey the Fast 50 CEOs each year, and in recent years, concerns about cash flows have been the number 1 challenge. But this year, only one in ten companies had the same concerns, pointing towards further signs of economic recovery in Britain.
Companies are still finding it hard to finance research and development. Commenting on the survey, Deloitte’s David Halstead [pictured right] said:
“Britain’s technology companies have faced a challenging five years, even though the winners have grown significantly faster than the economy over the past five years, but they cannot, and do not, operate in isolation. In line with the wider economy, the entrants reveal a challenging five-year period, but with a bright outlook.”
Infectious Media at the top of the table
This year’s winners, Infectious Media, are a digital advertising platform based in Clerkenwell and since 2008, its revenue growth averaged 9,774 per cent.
London on top, generating 47% of revenues
London lead the way with 40 per cent of the Fast 50 companies based in the capital generating 47 per cent of the combined revenues in 2012/13.
London was responsible for the majority of revenue generated by ‘softer’ technology companies with 64 per cent of revenues from Internet, software, media and entertainment winners based in the capital.
Harder’ technologies were more strongly associated with regions outside of London. A fifth of combined winner revenues (£126 million) were generated by telecommunications companies, mostly based in the South East.
