Backed VC announces €30m fund, TechEast launching, Google faces anti-trust charges & more

Reading-based startup Invenias has secured $2.8m in funding. The cloud-based hiring platform has offices in Europe, the US, Australia and Malaysia, Invenias will use the funding to continue growth and invest in Research & Development.

What were you doing at 28? Well Andre and Alex of Backed VC, have just launched a new €30m pan-European seed-stage fund. Their mission is to be the most collaborative, community-driven fund in Europe and they’ve already got the likes of Jukedeck and Tech Will Save Us on their books.

TechEast Launch

TechEast has announced its four year plan to underpin the creation of 5,000 new technology roles in the East of England by 2020. The organisation hopes to support existing startups and drive growth into the sector across Norwich, Ipswich, Cambridge and all of East Anglia.

EU takes on Google with Anti-Trust charges

The EU has accused Google of unfair competition with its Android mobile operating system.

Google is facing anti-trust charges and is accused of using its overall strategy for mobile devices to protect its dominant position in internet search.

The company is accused of pre-installing Google search and Google Chrome and paying large sums to mobile smartphone makers to do the same.

The company has 12 weeks to respond and could face huge fines.
