Wellmind Health has appointed techUK and NHS England’s SME commercial advisory board member Heather Cook as its newest chair.

Launched in 2011, the Brighton company provides digital treatments for chronic pain management, mental health and addiction.

Mark Hunt, CEO of Wellmind Health, said: “With increasing patient demand and sustained pressures on healthcare services, such as the need to address drug over-prescription, waiting list lengths, and find in-year cost savings, we look forward to creating more positive impacts on a greater number of services and people in need across health and social care sectors globally.”

Users of Wellmind Health include various NHS trusts, Wiltshire Police, the University of Bath and Macmillan Cancer Support.

At techUK, Cook is a health and social care council member. She is also a life science council member.

Responsibilities for the new Wellmind Health chair include helping to grow the business, both in the country and abroad.

“I couldn’t be more delighted to join this inspiring team and support their journey to pioneer a new era in how evidence-based, non-drug alternatives can deliver a paradigm shift in patient care,” said Cook.

Professor Lee Smith and Dr Clare Gillvray already sit on the firm’s advisory board.

A competitor to Wellmind Health is London-listed digital mental health platform Kooth, which recently raised £10m.
