Atom Bank has opened its new headquarters in Newcastle, bringing 600 employees and creating 30 new roles.

The move from its previous home in Durham to the historic Pattern Shop marks a new era for the digital bank, reinforcing its commitment to the North East and creating new opportunities for local talent.

The relocation is a strategic step to align with Atom’s growth and future vision, with the new office serving as a hub for innovation and collaboration.

The 30 new jobs range from technical positions in engineering and data to roles in operations, and includes 14 customer support positions.

“Our move to the Pattern Shop isn’t just a change of address; it’s a bold statement about our future and our belief in the North East,” said Mark Mullen, CEO at Atom Bank. “We’re investing in a space that celebrates our region’s industrial past while providing a modern, flexible and inspiring home for our people.

“This new chapter will help us attract top talent and continue to challenge the status quo, proving that a truly innovative and profitable business can thrive right here in the North East.”

Atom Bank launched in April 2016 as the UK’s first app-based bank and offers mortgages, savings and business lending for small and medium-sized enterprises.
