Mayor’s International Business Programme takes EdTech startups to Silicon Valley

A number of UK EdTech firms are being taken on a mission to Silicon Valley by the Mayor of London’s International Business Programme and strategic body for education technology, Edtech UK.

The trip, which is designed to promote international business growth and foster transatlantic partnerships, will be taken by a number of high-growth startups including Gojimo, Blackbullion, Educational Appstore, and FutureLearn.

Others on the trip, which takes place from 18th to 22nd April 2016 in San Diego and San Francisco, include Proversity, Blippar, Whizz Education, and RefME.

They attendees will head to the EdTech investor conference, the ASU GSV Summit, and will visit Facebook’s headquarters.

Sara French, head of the Mayor’s International Business Programme, said: “Connecting the exceptional talent we have in London with the brightest minds in Silicon Valley is vital to ensuring the continued development of the global EdTech sector.

“The mission – which provides the opportunity for participants to scale their business and increase capital – forms a gateway to international expansion, placing Britain at the forefront of the prospering Edtech market,” she concluded.
