Cambridge-based health tech company Qureight has secured $20m (£15m) in Series B funding to expand its AI-powered clinical trial imaging platform.

Founded by pulmonologist Dr Muhunthan Thillai and radiologist Alessandro Ruggiero, Qureight has developed a digital infrastructure and 3D deep learning platform designed to curate, analyse, and extract precision endpoints from complex lung and heart scans.

The fresh capital injection will be used to construct a specialised AI imaging laboratory housing the company’s 3D chest imaging foundation model.

This technology will allow Qureight to rapidly build new predictive models and expand its imaging CRO services beyond its core footprint in lung fibrosis into adjacent therapeutic areas, including asthma, pulmonary hypertension, bronchiectasis, and drug-induced lung toxicity.

Qureight’s platform is used by major biopharma partners including AstraZeneca and Vicore Pharma to speed up decision-making, integrate synthetic control arms, and streamline global site onboarding during clinical trials.

“Expanding our 3D imaging deep learning models with our new AI laboratory will complement our existing dominance in lung fibrosis, allow us to enter new markets, and solidify our leadership position in the lung and heart imaging CRO market,” said Thillai.

The round was led by Molten Ventures alongside existing backers Hargreave Hale AIM VCT, XTX Ventures, Guinness Ventures, Meltwind, and Ascension.

“Qureight demonstrates how AI, powered by real-world data, can accelerate discovery and transform clinical research,” said Dr Inga Deakin, a partner at Molten Ventures.

“The team’s rapid deployment of solutions in areas of unmet need underscores their unique capability to drive the next generation of medical innovation.”

The Series B financing follows the company’s £6.8m Series A round in April 2024.
