Jude, a London-based bladder health startup, has raised $4.24m (£3.36m) in a seed financing round to expand to the US.

Approximately 2.3 billion people around the world have some kind of bladder-related problem says Jude, with incontinence affecting more than those with menopause, erectile dysfunction and endometriosis put together.

Services offered by Jude include medical assessments via phone or online, supplements, and underwear alongside liners and pads.

“We know women’s health suffers from chronic underfunding and a lack of research, there’s little medication and not enough training for healthcare professionals in bladder health specifically,” said Jude’s CEO and founder, Peony Li.

In addition to the seed round, Jude has also received an Innovate UK grant of £400,000.

Li was previously head of operations at femtech company Daye and Founders Factory’s head of investments.

“We want to make the entire journey – from symptom to solution – better for people with poor bladder health,” added Li.

The seed round was led by Eka Ventures and Joyance, supported by Crista Galli Ventures’ Dr Fiona Pathiraja and further investment from Samos VC’s June Angelides.

Camilla Dolan, general partner, Eka Ventures said: “There is currently no scaled player that provides a holistic solution to prevention, treatment and management of incontinence and prostate-related issues or a scaled player focused on healthy ageing.”
