FLock.io, a leading privacy-preserving AI solution provider, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have strengthened their relationship to advance public sector digital innovation for the Dominican Republic, building on an ongoing pilot this year. They have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to align with the UNDP Strategic Plan (2026–2029) to leverage new technologies for public service delivery and data-driven solutions while striving towards prosperity for all, including climate action and gender equality.
FLock.io led cohort 2 of pilots of the SDG Blockchain Accelerator – an initiative by the UNDP AltFin Lab team to scale practical solutions powered by AI and blockchain for sustainable development worldwide – in regions including the Caribbean, Liberia, Rwanda and Latin America, with cohort 3 to follow. In May, FLock.io visited the Dominican Republic to advance one such project: crop microinsurance to deliver payouts for damaged crops (which was previously unavailable to smallholder farmers) that combine AI-powered risk assessment with instant blockchain-based payouts. The team heard directly from local female farmers about the challenges they face. This is one example of FLock.io’s privacy-preserving AI and blockchain technology that doesn’t expose raw or sensitive data.
The Dominican Republic has witnessed a significant surge in digital adoption in recent years, with internet penetration now reaching 91% of the population. Emerging technologies have created unprecedented opportunities to transform the public sector, but to ensure it serves all citizens fairly it requires strong data privacy standards and ethical governance frameworks. Bridging these gaps requires human-centered, privacy-preserving infrastructure.
The MoU marks a key milestone in FLock.io’s engagement with UNDP Dominican Republic. Under this framework agreement signed on September 4, 2026, FLock.io and the UNDP Country Office in the Dominican Republic will collaborate on knowledge exchange, dialogue and institutional learning. The effort supports the UNDP Country Programme Document for the Dominican Republic (2023–2027) and the UNDP Strategic Plan (2026–2029) by exploring responsible public infrastructure, transparent data governance and trusted public systems that enable governments to drive innovation while maintaining control over local data and upholding ethics. The dialogue will focus on strengthening inclusive digital systems, supporting gender-responsive social protection systems, and climate and environmental sustainability.
This collaboration builds on FLock.io’s growing engagement with governments and public institutions. After a successful pilot with the government of Sarawak, Malaysia, FLock.io was announced as the key technical partner in a sovereign AI government initiative and signed three landmark MoUs during a series of UK-Sarawak strategic roundtables in Manchester, Cambridge then Oxford.
