The British Computer Society (BCS) has appointed two new directors to join the leadership team of the Chartered Institute for IT.
Harpreet Panesar is set to join the group as its director of membership and volunteer engagement, while Adam Thompson has been named as its new director of digital.
Both of the new hires join BCS from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), a common launchpad for BCS, with recently appointed chief executive officer Sharron Gunn also having joined from it.
At BCS, Panesar will be tasked with leading the growth, diversification, and retention of membership, while Thompson will work to transform its digital ecosystem, from the BCS website and membership portal to its learning, certification and registration journeys.
“As technology reshapes every sector of society, the role of a strong, trusted professional body has never been more important. BCS is the home of professionalism in AI, and that demands excellence in both how we serve our members and how we operate digitally,” said Gunn.
“Harpreet brings significant experience in member engagement, growth and community leadership, and Adam brings a strong background in digital transformation and innovation. Together, they will support BCS in continuing to improve how we serve and connect with current and future members.”
The appointments are part of the group’s ongoing transformation initiative that is focused on strengthening its ability to grow membership, deepen engagement, modernise its digital infrastructure and reinforce its position in an AI-driven industry.
