Here’s your weekly roundup of UK tech startup funding deals

2025 has got off to a flying start for tech funding in the UK, with another packed week of deals, the most eye-catching of which was London-based Synthesia, celebrating crossing the $2bn valuation mark to become Britain’s top gen AI firm.

UKTN tracked £160m worth of UK tech investment this week (13 January to 17 January), in our second funding roundup of 2025.

Here’s a summary of this week’s tech funding deals.

Oh – £3.7m

Sector: Social media

HQ: London

Round: Seed

Investors: Tangent, Kosmos Ventures, Big Brain Holdings, Bodhi Ventures and Tagus Capital

The AI startup’s flagship product, OhChat, is a NSFW platform through which users text conversations with a host of characters that learn their preferences with a personal recommendation engine.

RocketPhone.ai – £8.6m

Sector: AI

HQ: London

Round: Seed

Investors:RocketPhone did not disclose the source of the funding, but said it did not include money from any venture capital firms.

Founded in 2017, RocketPhone.ai provides voice processing software for sales and customer service teams. It listens to customer and sales conversations in order to record identifiers for follow up activity and automates actions.

Arcube – £1.2m

Sector: Transport

HQ: Manchester

Round: Seed

Investors: Fuel Ventures & Oxford Capital Partners

Founded by University of Manchester graduates Prithveesh Reddy and Harvey Lowe, the Arcube platform leverages artificial intelligence to boost loyalty and ancillary revenue for airlines.

 

Synthesia – £146m

Sector: AI

HQ: London

Round: Series D

Investors: NEA, Google Ventures,Atlassian Ventures, World Innovation Lab and PSP Growth

Synthesia also allows customers to create avatars of themselves. By providing the company with footage of a person speaking to a camera, it can produce a digital double that can speak on the user’s behalf.
