Herve Dehareng, a former director at Dyson has been appointed as the new chief executive Luthmore, a startup developing zero-emission boiler technology.
Dehareng spent almost two decades at the engineering firm, holding a handful of positions including innovation director. At the company, he oversaw the launches of several major products including the bladeless fan and the Dyson hand dryer.
Now, as CEO of Luthmore he will lead the team as it develops its battery-enabled boilers that aim to eliminate reliance on gas for home heating.
Dehareng has big plans for the startup, with a stated goal of making the Luthmore boiler the “electric vehicle equivalent for home heating within three years”.
Luthmore was founded in 2022 and has since raised £12.4m from investors including British Business Bank via the FSE Group-managed South West Investment Fund.
“The significant investment of well over £12m into Luthmore over the past three years demonstrates that the sector hungry for innovative new solutions to support the diverse needs of the UK housing stock,” Dehareng said.
“The Luthmore boiler will help deliver government decarbonisation targets and present homeowners, developers, councils and social housing providers with an alternate, clean heat solution.”
