Volta, a London-based fully vertically integrated AI infrastructure platform, has launched with a $10bn (£7.4bn) AI lab partnership and $5bn (£3.7bn) AI infrastructure programme.
Volta will develop, finance, build and operate AI factories by integrating institutional capital, powered land, data centres, compute, software and operations under a single platform.
The firm says its goal is to address one of AI infrastructure’s biggest bottlenecks – access to affordable capital.
Volta also says it will enable frontier AI labs, AI-native companies and enterprises to access AI infrastructure that is dependable, scalable and enabled by low-cost infrastructure capital.
Volta’s launch is anchored by a £7.4bn strategic partnership with an AI lab to develop an AI factory in Europe alongside Bitdeer. Located in Norway, the project will comprise a 133 MW deployment powered by NVIDIA Vera Rubin systems.
As part of its long-term growth strategy, Volta has additionally established an AI infrastructure programme with Azora to provide £3.7bn of financing for the next generation of AI factories developed by the company.
The company has also completed Seed and Series A rounds valuing Volta at $2.4bn (£1.8bn).
“AI is transforming compute from a technology product into critical infrastructure,” says Sofia Gumuzio, chief corporate development officer at Volta.
“Meeting that demand requires a platform that can mobilise infrastructure capital, secure power and execute at industrial scale while moving at the pace of AI innovation. That’s what Volta was built to do.”
