London co-working space Second Home has landed £7.5m ($10.7m) in funding.
Established by Rohan Silva – a former advisor to the UK Prime Minister – and well-known entrepreneur Sam Aldenton, the company received support from Yuri Milner; Tencent chairman Martin Lau; and global VC firm Index Ventures.
Alongside its funding announcement made at a conference in Germany, Second Home said it was planning to expand to Lisbon – where Web Summit is to take place in November – later this year.
Silva told TechCrunch: “Right now Lisbon feels like East London just before the tech cluster exploded. It’s a super-creative city, but there are not enough places for creative people to come together. At the same time, big companies are shrinking, my more people are becoming entrepreneurs and the built environment of cities needs to evolve to keep pace with this.”
The Lisbon office will be opened in association with Alexandre Barbosa at Faber Ventures.
