Investments

In investment news, AdTech platform Honeycomb raised £3m in a Series A round led by Beringea. The firm says it’ll use the funds to roll out its platform in 11 new markets, including the US.

Perkbox, an employee engagement platform, received £2.5m from European VC firm Draper Esprit. The startup plans to use the money to expand into the US and Europe.

Weengs, a shipping solution for small businesses, closed a £2.2m pound Seed round. Investors included LocalGlobe, Cherry Ventures and Seedcamp.

Best of British

Simon Segars, CEO of British tech giant Arm Holdings, said the event of a ‘hard Brexit’ would damage his company.

He said ‘access to people’ was crucial to Arm’s business, and suggested a restriction on foreign workers in the UK could limit the Cambridge-based firm’s plans for growth.

International story

Microsoft unveiled multiple products at its keynote, including a PC called the Surface Studio. It costs 3,000 dollars, has a giant 28 inch touchscreen and is just 12.5mm thick. The company also announced updates to the classic Paint app, it now lets users easily turn photos into 3D pictures.

Download

Our download of the week is EdTech app Play My Way. The app will interrupt any application your child is using and will only allow them to return to their favoured app once they’ve answered an educational question.

Parents can control the grade levels, subjects and time intervals, and can access a report of their children’s performance in the tests.

And Finally…

And finally, Tinder has introduced a new feature: ‘Swipe to Vote’. It’s a poll that lets you swipe on various issues from immigration to climate change and will then show you the US presidential candidate that best matches your views.

Careful though, it could be the scariest match you’ve had on Tinder yet!
