Rockabox secures £3 million from Series A

Video engagement company Rockabox has completed its first round of Series A funding.

The London based company offer targeted video distribution and engagement software for brands.

The £3 million investment was led by Notion Capital, and supported by Frog Capital and fourteen17 who have both invested in the company previously.

The funding will be used to expand into new markets and develop its latest software-as-a-service platform which includes ‘Shutters’.

According to Iab.Europe, online video advertising grew by 50.7% in 2012 within Europe.

In the same year, over £144 million was spent on video advertising in the UK alone.

Using HTML5, Shutters adds additional content to videos via side panels which offer interactive content.

The software is similar to Mozilla Popcorn Maker in providing further informative content.

Previous clients have included Honda, Diesel and House of Fraser.

Branded campaigns

It’s currently being used by the Telegraph to advertise the latest blockbuster movie Captain Phillips starring Tom Hanks.

Rockabox was founded in 2008 by James Booth, former Tangozebra CEO and Torie Chilcott, one of the brains behind the original Pop Idol series.
