Search engine marketing company Campanja has raised $5m from Hoxton Ventures and DFJ Esprit to fund expansion to London.
The funding is the latest in a series of deals completed by DFJ Esprit, who are currently averaging one round a week.
Spending spree
DFJ Esprit led a £5 million for SportsPursuit this week following investment in TrustPilot and Lyst last month.
Partner Scott Sage says one of the things that makes DFJ Esprit attractive to startups is their expertise in going international.
We are very hands on with the investments we make and this includes supporting our companies’ growth overseas.
More bang for your buck
Campanja manages clients’ S.E.M. processes such as dealing with Google AdWords and BingAd.
Their platform is designed to reduce the cost of acquiring customers by helping them optimise advertising spend in real-time, adjusting for location, time, and seasonality.
CEO Marcus Anzengruber says they want clients to have the best value and control over their advertising dollars.
Our technology ensures our customers get the best return on their spend, second by second, and don’t overspend on acquiring traffic that doesn’t yield results.
Going places
The new capital will be invested in platform development, key hiring in Palo Alto and Stockholm, and international expansion, including opening new offices in London and New York.
Also investing were Google backer Ram Shriram and David Axmark, co-founder of MySQL.
With a client base including the likes of Netflix and extending from the US to the Middle East, Campanja now has 44 employees and is forecasting growth of 300% this year.
