Investment firm Beringea planning to raise £80m

Beringea, which boasts Poq, My 1st Years and Thread in its portfolio, is planning to raise up to £80m by issuing new shares.
The firm manages two publicly listed venture capital trusts, which have announced their intention to launch a combined Offer for Subscription to raise up to a total of £60m, with an over-allotment facility of up to a further £20m.
The target launch for the Offer is set for December this year.
Stuart Veale, managing partner at Beringea, commented: “We are seeking to strengthen our commitment to scaling technology companies, providing them with the patient capital and support that they need to thrive and build lasting success stories.
“This fundraise will enable us to capitalise on a substantial pipeline of investment opportunities and continue to expand our investment team throughout the UK.”
Beringea manages more than $700m in funds in the UK and the US and has invested in more than 60 portfolio companies across North America and Europe.
The investment firm sold its stakes in Watchfinder and Chargemaster this year, delivering significant returns to the ProVen VCTs and dividend payments to shareholders.
In October, Beringea invested alongside Balderton Capital and H&M’s investment arm in Thread’s $22m round.
It’s also led investments in Aistemos, an AI business focused on patent analytics, and MYCS, a European furniture retailer.
