Majority of tech firms struggle to retain diverse talent, survey finds

Almost two-thirds of businesses in the UK are struggling to retain diverse tech workers despite a belief that existing inclusion strategies are working well, new research has found.

According to a survey of 300 senior managers conducted by research and education firm Wiley Edge, 64% of participants reported losing tech employees from diverse backgrounds.

Of the 1,000 young tech professionals surveyed, 60% said they have felt uncomfortable at their workplace due to their gender, ethnicity, disability or socio-economic background.

Biased managers and a missing sense of belonging were among the most-cited reasons for discomfort by diverse employees.
