Anna King, a longstanding executive in the British health sector, has been appointed to the board of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).

Announced by Secretary of State for Technology Liz Kendall, King will be made a non-executive member of the UKRI board starting from September 2026.

King is currently the commercial director at the Health Innovation Network, a group that acts as a link between academics, NHS providers and local authorities with the goal of accelerating innovations in health technology.

She has also served as executive lead for DigitalHealth.London and sits on a number of boards and committee concerned with the operation of NHS trusts and health tech support groups.

“Anna’s expertise and insight in governance, investment, innovation, commercial strategy, and cross-sector partnership working will be an enormous asset to the UKRI Board as the organisation delivers its mission to advance knowledge, improve lives and drive growth,” said UKRI chair Sir Andrew Mackenzie.

UKRI, part of the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), is the research funding body of the UK government.
