Build Your Own Retro Camera With The The Pop-Up Pinhole Project

Tired of Instagram? Take real photos with the camera kit made of cardboard

The Pop-up pinhole project is a fully functioning camera kit that you put together yourself at home– and it’s made out of cardboard. London based designer Kelly Angood always wanted a medium-format camera but without the prohibitive price tag, so two years ago she decided to build her own.

When her design quickly became a hit in the blogosphere, she decided to make it into a kit to share with the world. Now she is trying to raise £15,000 on Kickstarter to make the Videre– a do-it-yourself flat pack camera kit.

“For me this project is about two things– photography and craft,” Kelly Angood told Tech City News. “We live in a hyper digital world, and I wanted to bring something to the table that could teach people the fundamentals of photography, whilst at the same time allowing them to create something aesthetically beautiful that they could re-use and keep.”

EASY TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS

The exquisitely designed kit will come with easy to follow instructions, and Angood plans to curate an online gallery of photographs taken with the kits.

EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS

Angood plans to use some of the money to run free educational workshops for kids in London, and she’s keeping a diary of the project on her blog so you can follow her progress.

You can secure your very own Videre camera by pledging £25 on The Pop-up Pinhole Project Kickstarter page.
