Mind Candy are looking for a ‘force multiplier’ to join their Tools team

mindcandy

About Mind Candy

Mind Candy’s flagship product Moshi Monsters has 80m registered users online along with bestselling books, magazines, toys, trading cards, music albums, and a movie.

They’re now developing several new products for kids and their families, and would love to hear from you.

Our team profiled what it’s really like to work at Mind Candy back in January.

Your profile

You will need to be passionate about making people more effective – you may already be in a Tools or Automation role, but it isn’t essential. You should enjoy continually learning and improving your skills – Mind Candy want someone with the drive to work it out for themselves and then share their new-found knowledge with them.

What you will do

You’ll be working at the intersection of Development, Operations and QA – a key communicator and lubricator to make one big happy software development family.

You will be co-developing new automation solutions with product teams and shared services, quickly delivering improvements whilst training them to self-service their future automation needs.

The aim is to use automation to deliver value in product teams (in terms of saved time in hunting down bugs, broken builds, failed deploys) and promoting Continuous Delivery for every team at Mind Candy.

You will be both building new automation frameworks and making use of existing open-source projects, using external services like Amazon and Sauce Labs, as well as internal resources like OpenStack and our Data Centres.

You will be evangelising automation solutions both inside and outside of Mind Candy, contributing to open source projects and open-sourcing internal tech to share the kick-ass solution you’ve built with the world!

We want to automate every part of the software development lifecycle, including:

  • automated unit, integration and UI behaviour-driven tests
  • automated testing of games on mobile devices, both of native and Unity games.
  • automated deploys including working with Cloud Formation, Puppet and Fabric
  • automated builds including code quality metrics
  • continuous Integration tests that dynamically create and destroy complex test environments
  • cloud computing – using resources for only as long as you need them rather than leaving them always-on, using Infrastructure-as-code solutions.

What we can offer

  • Lots of languages! Mainly Python, Scala, Java, Javascript
  • Amazon Web Services, OpenStack, Sauce Labs and other ‘as a service’ providers
  • BDD frameworks like Selenium, Cucumber, Gherkin
  • Cutting-edge frameworks such as Storm, Kafka, Elastic Search, Cassandra, Play Framework, angular.js, node.js
  • Ping-pong table, slide, beer, nerf guns!
