The Dragons Den style event saw founders deliver 30 second pitches followed by questions from the panel.

Winners of the semi-final included DIY self-diagnosing software Fixflo, student-only social network Unii.com and crowdfunding search engine Crowdsurfer.

Among the winners: James Gill from GoSquared, Shara Tochia from Fitness Freak and Adam-Lucas Pettit from Travel Roulette

Blocks of sound

Not every pitch was purely software-based.

One startup to make it through to the final was Mash Machine, a new type of DJ-ing tool that allows users to create music by moving physical blocks around on a board.
